The idea
The patient's skin is assessed before positioning and again at the end of surgery, and changes are documented.
In practice
The team looks for redness, pressure marks, discoloration and other signs of injury, especially over bony areas and under devices.
Where people slip
A pressure mark found at the end is reported to the recovery nurse so it can be followed.
