Fowler's and Sitting

Captions available

The idea

In Fowler's position, the patient lies on their back with the head of the table raised.

In practice

It is used for some cranial, eye and neck procedures; a sitting position with the patient leaning forward is used for placing epidural anesthesia.

Where people slip

In every position, the anesthesia provider monitors vital signs closely and adjusts care as needed.
