Supine
Captions available
The idea
In the supine position, the patient lies on their back, with arms tucked at the sides or placed on armboards.
In practice
It is the most common surgical position, used for many abdominal, chest and cardiac procedures.
Where people slip
Armboards are adjusted for height and angle so the arm is positioned without compromising its circulation.
