Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 11   TSC 253 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Air, Temperature and Humidity

Captions available

The idea

Operating rooms control temperature, humidity and airflow to reduce infection risk and keep conditions stable.

In practice

Many surgical suites use high-efficiency particulate air filters, and OSHA guidance cites a minimum of fifteen total air changes per hour for operating rooms.

Where people slip

A cold room helps the team but chills the patient, so warming the patient is part of every case.
