Persia's Satrapies and Zoroaster
Captions available
The idea
Cyrus defeated the Medes and, by five thirty-nine BCE, Babylon; Cambyses took Egypt. Darius organized twenty satrapies under satraps answering to the king and built palaces and qanats. Kings were Ahura Mazda's earthly representatives; Zoroastrianism saw good and evil contending toward a final judgment.
In practice
Many ethnicities and religions, the Judeans among them.
Where people slip
Persia's tolerance is the exam's contrast with Assyria.
