Medicare is the federal health insurance program with four parts.
In practice
Part A covers hospital and skilled nursing care; Part B covers doctors' services and outpatient care; Part C is Medicare Advantage, offered by private plans; Part D covers prescription drugs.
Where people slip
Ask Medicare patients whether they have original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan, because billing differs.
