Medical Assistant Prep / Unit 3 MAS 058 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Three Types of Muscle
Captions available
The idea
The body has three types of muscle: skeletal, smooth and cardiac.
In practice
Skeletal muscle moves the bones under voluntary control; smooth muscle lines hollow organs such as blood vessels and the bladder; cardiac muscle forms the heart wall.
Where people slip
Smooth and cardiac muscle are controlled automatically, so a patient cannot will them to change.
