The idea
Nearby electrical devices can disturb an ECG tracing.
In practice
Before recording, ask the patient to set aside a cell phone or smartwatch, and move nearby power cords away from the patient and the machine's cables.
Where people slip
Never unplug life-support or diagnostic equipment to reduce interference; move cords and set aside personal devices instead.
