Sutures and Staples
Captions available
The idea
Sutures and staples hold a wound's edges together while it heals by primary intention.
In practice
Sutures are threads or other material sewn through tissue; staples are stainless steel, strong and quick to place and remove, but they may leave more scarring.
Where people slip
Removal happens only on the provider's order.
