Complications to Report at Once
Captions available
The idea
Three common wound complications are a hematoma, infection and dehiscence, and each is reported immediately.
In practice
A hematoma is a collection of blood under the skin; dehiscence is the separation of a closed wound's edges, which can happen suddenly with coughing or straining.
Where people slip
If wound edges separate, cover the wound and get the provider at once.
