The idea
Before placing a cuff, check for any reason not to use that arm.
In practice
Ask about and look for a dialysis fistula, a past mastectomy on that side, clots, lymphedema, wounds or an IV line, and ask which arm the patient prefers.

Record any arm restriction so the next person does not use it.
