Thyroid Replacement
Captions available
The idea
Levothyroxine is a thyroid replacement drug used to treat hypothyroidism, an underactive thyroid.
In practice
It replaces the hormone the thyroid gland is not making enough of, and it is usually taken once a day on an empty stomach.
Where people slip
Patients take it for life in most cases, so it belongs on every medication list you record.
