Ritual Three: The AI Feature Gate

Captions available

The idea

The third ritual plugs the method into AI governance: every AI feature proposal passes a gate with five items before it is built.

In practice

Step one: the proposal names its primary and secondary things. Step two: it references the relevant Packs and matrices. Step three: it states what the model reads: which documents, records, fields and things. Step four: it states what the model writes or influences: which records, decisions, statuses or notices its output can change. Step five: it states how the outputs will be reviewed, by whom, and before what happens. Step six: the AI Safety Lead checks two things: that AI is not redefining a Gold thing, and that the line between AI suggests and the system decides is clear.

Where people slip

A proposal that cannot fill in the five items is not ready for the gate. The book treats that as useful information, not a refusal: it shows where the team's understanding of its own feature runs out.
