The Second Generation

Captions available

The idea

The second generation of Romantic poets, Byron, Shelley and Keats, were younger than Wordsworth and Coleridge, more radical or more sensuous, and all died young and abroad in the eighteen twenties. Their deaths, the anchor notes, mark the end of the Romantic period.

In practice

Byron, Shelley, Keats.

Where people slip

All three died before Wordsworth.
