Rules, Routines and Engaged Time

The idea
An integrated approach arranges the behavioral setting, keeps rules few, enforceable and general but not vague, teaches routines like content, and protects engaged time, since engaged time, not allocated time, relates to achievement.
In practice
Fifty minutes are allocated to math; only thirty may be spent actually working.
Where people slip
Routines are taught by defining, teaching, practicing, reinforcing and prompting them visually.
