No Comma Between Subject and Verb

The idea
Do not put a comma between a subject and its verb, however long the subject is.
In practice
"Anyone who was still at the party, left when the band stopped" is wrong; delete the comma after party.
Where people slip
Long subjects tempt writers to pause; the pause is in the voice, not in the grammar.
