State

A negative outside a function reflects its graph across the x-axis, and a negative inside reflects it across the y-axis: −f(x) flips outputs, f(−x) flips inputs.

For f(x) = x³: −f(1) = −1 flips (1, 1) downward, while f(−1) = −1 mirrors it leftward.
