Inverse Functions

State

The inverse of a one-to-one function reverses its inputs and outputs: f⁻¹(y) = x exactly when f(x) = y, and only one-to-one functions have inverses.

For f(x) = 2x + 3, the inverse is f⁻¹(x) = (x − 3)/2: where f sends 4 to 11, f⁻¹ sends 11 home to 4.
