The idea
At constant pressure, a fixed amount of gas has volume directly proportional to its kelvin temperature.
In practice
A sealed balloon shrinks in a freezer and re-expands at room temperature, its volume tracking the kelvin temperature change.
Where people slip
Cooled far enough, this proportionality would predict zero volume at absolute zero — real gases liquefy first.
