The G-Protein Activation Cycle
This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.
State
A heterotrimeric G-protein cycles between an inactive, GDP-bound state and an active, GTP-bound state, resetting itself once its own enzyme activity hydrolyzes GTP back to GDP.
Watch for
The G-protein resets itself by its own GTP hydrolysis — a signal will not terminate on schedule if that hydrolysis step is disabled.
