The idea
Feedback inhibition is a pathway's end product binding back to inhibit an earlier enzyme in its own production, slowing the pathway once enough product accumulates.
In practice
Excess ATP allosterically inhibits an early enzyme in glucose catabolism, the very pathway that produces ATP.
Where people slip
Feedback inhibition targets the pathway's own regulatory enzyme, usually its first committed step, not every enzyme along the way.
