The idea
Compartmentalizing enzymes inside specific organelles restricts where and when they act on their substrates, adding control beyond the enzyme's own binding.
In practice
The citric acid cycle's later enzymes work only inside the mitochondrion, kept apart from the rest of the cytoplasm.
Where people slip
Compartmentalization controls substrate access, not intrinsic activity — the same enzyme could still function if relocated.
