James Watson and Francis Crick built DNA's double-helix model in 1953, using Franklin and Gosling's diffraction data to work out its structure.
In practice
Watson and Crick's model showed two antiparallel strands wound around each other, held together by paired bases facing inward.
Where people slip
The model rested directly on Franklin and Gosling's measurements — it was not derived from Watson and Crick's own data alone.
