ACT Preparation / Unit 22 ACT 2108 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Food Webs and Energy Flow
Captions available
The idea
A food chain passes energy from producers to primary consumers to higher consumers; a food web joins many chains. Energy is lost as heat at each level.
In practice
Grass, then a rabbit, then a fox: each step passes on less energy than it received.
Where people slip
A food web shows many feeding links at once; a food chain follows one path through them.
