Extermination Camps: The Peak of 1942 to 1943, and Treblinka

Captions available

The idea

Extermination camps were not concentration camps: six sites in occupied Poland near rail lines, where arrivals died within two hours. The peak was short, early nineteen forty-two to late forty-three, half the Holocaust's Jewish victims, as the Polish ghettos emptied. Treblinka alone killed at least eight hundred thousand, mostly from Warsaw.

In practice

Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka, built in forty-two.
