The idea
Counter-revolution came at once. The Red Army, built by Trotsky, fought the Whites: ex-tsarists, liberals, Mensheviks, minorities seeking independence, and foreign troops including Americans. The Reds were few but coherent and won. The anchor counts close to ten million dead, mostly civilians.
