The idea
The book's culture chapter ends with five diagnostic questions, built around one test: what happens to your team's standards when you are not there?
In practice
Step one: if you were absent for six weeks, would standards, behaviour and productivity hold? Step two: which of your team's behaviours did they learn from you, and would you be proud to see them copied? Step three: are the values your team practises the same as the ones you espouse? Step four: what happens when someone speaks an uncomfortable truth, are they heard or punished? Step five: does your culture attract the people you want, or select for compliance and drive away independent thinkers?
