Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 23   TSC 554 short lesson, about 20 seconds

Clamps, Ties and Clips

Captions available

The idea

Clamps, ties and clips work together: a clamp holds the vessel, and a tie or clip closes it.

In practice

After a hemostat grasps a vessel, it is tied off with suture or sealed with energy; clip appliers place clips directly on vessels.

Where people slip

Keep ties and loaded clip appliers ready whenever the surgeon is clamping vessels.
