Tech in Surgery Prep / Unit 9 TSC 216 short lesson, about 20 seconds
Malignant Hyperthermia Response
Captions available
The idea
When malignant hyperthermia is suspected, the triggering anesthetic is stopped and the antidote and cooling begin at once.
In practice
The scrubbed team finishes quickly or packs the wound; others bring the dedicated cart, prepare the antidote, and cool the patient.
Where people slip
Early signs include jaw muscle rigidity and a rising temperature, so a scrub person who sees unexpected rigidity says so.
