The idea
Laser protective eyewear must protect against the specific wavelength of the laser in use.
In practice
Each pair is marked with its wavelength and optical density; eyewear for one laser may give no protection against another.
Where people slip
Ordinary glasses are not laser protection; check the marking every time a different laser is used.
