Latex Allergy in Staff
Captions available
The idea
Repeated exposure to latex products can make health care workers sensitive or allergic to latex.
In practice
Symptoms range from itching, rash and watery eyes to wheezing and difficulty breathing; latex-free alternatives, such as nitrile or neoprene gloves, are used instead.
Where people slip
A worker who notices symptoms reports them, because sensitivity can worsen with continued exposure.
