Sterile Means No Living Microbes

The idea
Sterilization destroys or removes all forms of microbial life, including bacterial spores.
In practice
It is the most extreme level of microbial control, achieved by physical means such as heat or by chemical sterilants.
Where people slip
Anything less, including high-level disinfection, is not sterilization, and is not acceptable for an item entering sterile tissue.
