Site Against Situation
Captions available
The idea
Site describes a location by its physical characteristics: topography, vegetation, climate. Situation describes it by the area surrounding the place, its relative location. The two answer different questions: what is this place like, and what is it near.
In practice
A river-bend site; a situation between two markets.
Where people slip
Situation is sometimes called relative location; site is absolute in flavor.
