The idea
The first passenger railroad ran between Manchester and Liverpool in eighteen thirty; about sixty-five hundred miles followed in twenty years, and time zones with them. Manchester grew from about twenty thousand in seventeen fifty to four hundred thousand in eighteen fifty.
