Cognitive Dissonance

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Cognitive dissonance is the discomfort produced by holding inconsistent beliefs, or by acting against a held belief.

Show

Someone who considers themselves honest tells a lie and feels the tension immediately.

Watch for

Dissonance requires the person to feel responsible for the inconsistency. Coerced action produces little of it.
