Living Wills and Health Care Proxies
Captions available
The idea
Two common advance directives are the living will and the durable power of attorney for health care.
In practice
A living will states which treatments a person would or would not want; a durable power of attorney for health care names a proxy who decides when the person cannot.
Where people slip
A person can have both, and the proxy should have a copy.
