The idea
Specimens are packed safely for transport to the laboratory.
In practice
Place them in a leak-proof plastic bag, with the requisition in a separate outside pocket so that the paperwork stays clean.
Where people slip
Keep tubes upright and handle them gently on the way to the laboratory, to avoid hemolysis and leaks.
