The idea
Hemolysis means red blood cells have been broken, and a hemolyzed sample can give false results.
In practice
Forcing blood through a syringe and milking or squeezing a finger are two common causes.
Where people slip
Handle every sample gently, from the moment of collection through transport to the laboratory, because a hemolyzed sample usually has to be drawn again.
