The idea
Gather all equipment before you begin, so you never leave a patient with a needle in place.
In practice
You need the right tubes, needles and holder, a tourniquet, alcohol swabs, gauze, labels, gloves and a sharps container within reach.
Where people slip
Keep the tube rack close to you but away from the patient, so it cannot be knocked over.
