The Rapid Strep Test

The idea
A rapid strep test checks a throat swab for strep A antigens and gives results in about ten to twenty minutes.
In practice
If the rapid test is negative but the provider still suspects strep, a throat culture may be ordered, which takes a day or two but is more accurate.

Collect the swab the same careful way for either test.
