The idea
Some prefixes tell you where something is, compared with a structure.
In practice
Peri means around, sub means under, inter means between, and intra means within; an intramuscular injection goes within a muscle, and a subcutaneous injection goes under the skin.
Where people slip
Inter and intra differ by one letter, but between and within are different places.
