The idea
Contaminated needles and sharps must not be bent, recapped or removed.
In practice
The only exceptions are when no alternative is feasible or a specific procedure requires it, and then only by an approved method, never two-handed.
Where people slip
The safe habit is simple: never recap, and drop the sharp straight into the container.
