The idea
Before you accept a task, you must be trained and competent to perform it, and you are responsible for any task you accept.
In practice
If you are asked to draw blood before you have been checked off on venipuncture, say so and ask for help.
Where people slip
Saying "I have not been trained for that" protects the patient, the provider and you.
