The First Two Weeks

The idea

The book's Toolbox gives a checklist for the first two weeks on a new project, sized to fit beside other work.

In practice

Step one: run a sixty to ninety minute workshop on things and zones. Step two: build an Object Inventory of ten to thirty things. Step three: draw a map with three to seven zones. Step four: name three to seven core things and draft a Bronze or Silver Pack for each. Step five: write one to three cards for the most critical behaviors of each core thing. Step six: share the Packs and cards for quick feedback. Step seven: decide which one or two things are Gold candidates for deeper work later.

Where people slip

Two weeks is enough for a first version, not a finished one. The Gold decision at the end is a candidate list, and it is expected to change once the pilot's validation sessions begin.
