The idea
Learning theory, also called the behaviourist perspective, explains development through the environment: what a person experiences, and the consequences that follow behaviour.
In practice
A child's habits traced to the rewards and responses that followed them.
Where people slip
Behaviourists held that the mind could not be studied objectively, so they studied behaviour alone. They were wrong that thoughts cannot be measured.
