Newborn Reflexes
Captions available
The idea
Newborn reflexes include rooting, turning toward a touched cheek; sucking; grasping; the Moro, or startle, reflex; stepping; and the tonic neck reflex.
In practice
A loud noise making a newborn fling out arms and legs, then pull them in.
Where people slip
Some reflexes aid survival, such as sucking; some are responses to stress, such as the Moro; some have no clear purpose.
