General Form and Standard Form

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

A quadratic function wears two forms: general form ax² + bx + c, and standard form a(x − h)² + k, with vertex (h, k).

Show

x² − 4x + 3 and (x − 2)² − 1 are one function: expand the second, the first returns.

Watch for

Some books nickname standard form vertex form.
