Entropy Rises with Mixing

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

Entropy also rises when substances mix, since a mixture allows far more particle arrangements than the same substances kept apart.

Show

Salt water has higher entropy than pure water and dry salt stored separately, even though no reaction occurs.

Watch for

Mixing raises entropy with no reaction and no visible disorder change, so "nothing happened" is not evidence entropy stayed the same.
