Reaction Rate Defined

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

A reaction rate is a reactant's or product's concentration change divided by elapsed time, reported as a positive quantity.

Show

Dissolved hydrogen peroxide loses concentration over hours as it decomposes; dividing that loss by the elapsed time gives its rate.

Watch for

A reactant's concentration falls as a reaction runs, so its change is negative — the rate flips that sign to stay positive.
