Dalton's Law of Partial Pressures

This video presents the same text shown beside it, spoken and on screen. It adds nothing the text does not say.

State

In a mixture of gases that do not react, the total pressure equals the sum of each gas's own partial pressure.

Show

Combining oxygen at 300 kPa and nitrogen at 450 kPa in one container produces a total pressure of 750 kPa.

Watch for

Each gas contributes its own pressure as though the others were not present — mixing dilutes no individual gas's contribution.
